Germany - 2005 - Joe & Allison

While we didn't really do any cheese stuff in Germany, it was a beautiful time of year to visit.  The food and wine far exceeded our expectations.  Highlights included dinners at Dieter Muller, Sonnora Hotel and winery visits to Robert Weil, George Bruer, Max Ferd. Richter, Dr. Pauly Bergweiler, Markus Molitor and many more.

Capricorn I Brasserie

This meal was at a bistro across the street from the 16 seat Michelin starred restaurant. Food was great and not overly expensive

S.A.Prum

We stayed at a guesthouse in Wehlen (Mosel) on the river and overlooking the vineyards. It turned out to be an absolute bargain, not to mention a really great room. We can't recommend it enough

Quiet Walk

Our path down the alley from the bakery and main road to our guesthouse.

Bernkastle

Looking down to the town of Bernkastle and it's famous "Doctor" vineyards

Urziger Wurzgarten

Very steep vineyards in Urzig

Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Vineyards

Sonnenuhr means "Sundial". This sundial overlooked the vineyards and the Mosel river.

The morning fog is crucial to the formation of botrytis.

Allison at Joh. Jos. Prum

My favourite wine producer.  JJ Prum is German Riesling at its best.

Rudesheim Coffee

This was great! Place 3 cubes of sugar in a warm Asbach coffee cup. Add 1 to 2 parts Asbach Uralt Brandy, set aflame. Stir and allow to burn for 1 minute. Fill up with hot coffee to one inch of top of cup. Stir well, cover with layer of whipped cream spiced with vanilla and sprinkle with grated chocolate.

Kloster Eberbach

A beautiful building! "The name of the rose" with Sean Connery was filmed here. Also home to some wonderful German wines.
